Hyperliquid Price Surges Amid Geopolitical Tensions and 24/7 Trading Demand
Hyperliquid's native token HYPE surged more than 11% over the weekend as geopolitical tensions drove traders to decentralized perpetual markets. With traditional exchanges closed during U.S.-Iran hostilities, Hyperliquid emerged as one of the few 24/7 venues for oil, gold, and silver exposure.
Platform volumes skyrocketed to $328 million in silver perpetuals and $248 million in gold contracts during the crisis. The price discovery mechanism of Hyperliquid's HIP-3 builder-deployed markets proved critical when COMEX and NYMEX went offline.
Exchange tokens typically rally with volume growth, and HYPE briefly breached $31 before settling NEAR $30. The pullback reflects typical profit-taking after event-driven volatility.
